Sport fishing in La Thuile, as in the rest of the Aosta Valley, is an institution and an activity for true lovers of challenging and elusive nature— in the most hands-on sense of the word!
Fishing in La Thuile means reaching 2,278 meters at Lake Longet (located at the foot of Mont Valesan in French territory, in the municipality of Seez), where brown trout and Arctic char regain energy and sharpness in waters that could make even upstream salmon come back to life—let alone native fish. These fish, not surprisingly, are determined to put up a fight. They are waiting for you, yes, but to train your patience, endurance, and ability to push your limits… just like a trekking adventure. After all, these are wild fish, as wild as the side of Mont Blanc where they live!
To reach the lake, it is possible to park near the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard and walk for a short stretch (about 30 minutes with 130 meters of elevation gain).
