Every winter, skiers from all corners of the globe flock to experience our more than 152 certificate kilometres of slopes of varying levels of difficulty—from beginners to experts. The local trails on the Italian side of the mountains and the French ( La Rosière) are a great draw for famous international athletes, in particular the legendary Franco Berthod Slope 3 at La Thuile, which in 2016 played host to three speed trials for the Women’s Skiing World Cup (two for downhill and one SuperG), and in 2017 and 2019 the Telemark World Cup.
The Women Ski World Cup is come back to La Thuile on 29th February - 1st March 2020 (SuperG and Super Combined).
A sizeable ski park which, thanks to its geographical location, enjoys a favourable microclimate that prolongs the winter sports season. Optimal snow quality is guaranteed by the unceasing work of our slope custodians and snowcats, not to mention our 477 snow cannons that ensure excellent coverage.
Espace San Bernardo is also home to 2 slalom stadiums, 1 snowpark, 1 boardercross slope, 2 fun cross areas, 1 secure free-rider zone and 1 snowkite zone—which are easily reached by our transport systems—as well as 2 games parks for kids to meet every type of demand. And if you want to take home a souvenir or immortalise your performance, all you need to do is download our SKI PIC App and pass by one of the 4 photo-stations on the Italian side of the park.
The highest altitudes in the ski area (2,800 metres) are now in the Mont Valaisan area with 2 news lift. They are easy to reach by chairlift from Belvedere and then from on the French side, and descend towards Colle della Traversette. From this stand point the 360° view of the mountains—French on the one side and Italian on the other—is utterly breathtaking.
It only takes a few minutes from town to reach the lower slopes (1,441 m) thanks to the Piccolo San Bernardo DMC cable car, which can transport over 3,000 people/hour to the Les Suches (2,200 m). In 2017, this facility opened the first Ski Sauna—a timber-clad cabin with fragrant and welcoming sauna inside to enfold its passengers in a warm embrace. This project was developed in collaboration with Pré-Saint Didier Spa, QC Terme Group.
