A relaxing stroll
At an altitude of 2.066 m, Lago di Arpy can be reached in 45 minutes from Colle San Carlo. The walk is easy and suitable for all, and the pathway winds its way through lush woodland until it opens onto the beautiful lake. Situated in a natural basin between Monte Charvel and Becca Poignenta, to the left of Monte Colmet, the splendid Lago di Arpy is fed by runoff from the Pietra Rossa lake. On the right you will see Monte della Croce, which offers fabulous views of La Thuile, while a gentle stroll around the lake will offer you a great natural spectacle—the Grandes Jorasses mountains in the Mont Blanc range. The water itself varies in colour from clear blue to green to brown, and is teeming with trout. For those nature buffs among you, note that the lake also provides a habitat for a rare species of amphibian—the alpine newt (Triturus Alpestris).
