La Thuile gets ready for the 2018 summer of MTB

Thursday, May 3, 2018 -

Lifts will be open to bikes between 30 June and 2 September, and from 19 to 22 July the whole bike area will be devoted to the fifth round of the Enduro World Series.

La Thuile, Aosta Valley

La Thuile, the famous resort in the Valle d'Aosta region, is celebrating the 70th anniversary of 'Funivie Piccolo San Bernardo S.p.A.', the company that manages the ski lifts and that has made possible the tourism development of La Thuile. The winter 2017-2018 has brought more snow than ever, creating a unique playground full of excitement for downhill skiing enthusiasts and freeriders alike, with meters and meters of white powder.

The summer tourist season, fast approaching, is going to be just as intense and spectacular, with a lot of lifts specifically equipped for mountain bikes that will be open between 30 June and 2 September and with one more round of the Enduro World Series, back to the valley between 19 and 22 July. Likewise, Bosco Express and Chalet Express chairlifts will be open to walkers to offer an easy, effortless way to go up in the mountains and enjoy the views.

The best athletes in the world will meet again on the technical and steep trails of La Thuile, before the magnificent alpine massif of Mont Blanc. The great show of international mountain biking, with all teams and leading industry companies will again make the streets of the town busy.
La Thuile embarked on the Enduro World Series adventure in 2013, when this resort of Val d'Aosta made its first debut in the international mountain-biking scene. At its second edition, in 2016, it managed to win the award as the best enduro event of the year, according to Pinkbike, one of the leading magazines in the industry.
Expectations for the third edition are great, by all means. Not surprisingly, during these first days of sunshine and good temperatures - even if there is still a lot of snow around - the trail-building crews have already been at work on trails.

“Our goal is to leave our mark again, organizing a top-notch event. For this reason, and in order to mark the occasion, we are evaluating the opening of new trails, tracks that have never been used and that - once the race has wrapped up - will become part of our trail offer. Another addition to a bike area that already boasts 18 dedicated trails, for more than 150 km of riding ”Enrico Martello, Bike Park Manager of La Thuile, declares.

And that's not all - there is more coming for what concerns cycling. On 18 July, just a few days before the round of the Enduro World Series, the very Tour de France will take centre stage, capturing the heart of all enthusiasts. On that day the stage will finish very close to La Thuile: La Rosière, the ski resort that will host the finish line, is connected to La Thuile via uplifts and, during the summer, can be reached by bike through the Piccolo San Bernardo pass.

Skill tuition from La Thuile Scuola di Mountain Bike, MTB and e-bike hire, a Kids Park for young rippers, guided tours and mountain huts complement the offer aimed at all bike enthusiasts and will give to families the best chance to enjoy an unforgettable time in the saddle, fully immersed in nature.
La Thuile cannot wait to welcome all of you, between 30 June and 2 September!
