At the end of a long day in the open air, La Thuile offers the chance of having a nice break in a typical mountain ambience. Cafés and pub propose tasty aperitifs accompanied by delicious titbits or the famous Coppa dell’Amicizia, a wooden, low and large container with a cap and many small beaks traditionally used to drink the valdôtain coffee à la ronde. You drink one after the other and you pass clockwise the “coupe” to your friends without ever putting down the cup on the table. Gluttons will find their natural habitat in La Thuile cafés and confectioner’s shops. A local speciality is the Tometta di La Thuile: it is not a kind of cheese but a dessert. 350 grams of pleasure for your taste buds, whose shape remembers the traditional mountain pasture cheese. The Tometta is a patented dessert – a delicious union of chocolate milk, gianduja and Piemonte IGP nuts – thanks to which La Thuile received the title of Città del Cioccolato. And then there are the Torta 1441, a delicate chocolate spinge cake sutffed with chocolate mousse dedicated to the height of La Thuile, tasty chocolates, home-made ice-creams and the traditional fondue au chocolat served with fresh fruits. At the literary café you can try the interesting and glutton couple food&book: a cup of coffee, tea or chocolate and a nice book are something undelible. For the actives that still have energy there are many alternative sport activities: an ice-skating rink in the open air in the hamlet of Faubourg, some tennis courts, a 5-a-side soccer pitch, an indoor climbing crag in the sports centre of Arly and a swimming-pool in the Planibel area. And, after dinner, videogames, flippers and billiards are waiting for the youngest in the Amusement video arcade, whereas the cinema, in the Sala Manifestazioni di Arly, proposes a program that alternates new and classic films during all the winter season.
